Governance Beyond Boards Interventions (March to June '10)

Globally, corporate governance, risk mitigation and compliance (GRC) has emerged as a discipline that needs to be thoroughly understood and effectively implemented by an organisation in order to optimally enable the achievement of its strategic direction and to guide operational conduct.

Organisations of all sizes in South Africa need to develop and apply sound GRC principles and institute high ethical values for the benefit of investors, their stakeholders and the communities in which they operate.  This one-day intervention looks at governance, risk and compliance with a ‘new set of eyes’ and explains its basic principles and importance to all levels of the organisation, while discussing the framework and tools necessary to promote enterprise-wide awareness of its benefits and rewards.

In association with IBMSA, CGF proudly presents a one-day thought provoking intervention about the benefits and rewards of Corporate Governance, Risk and Compliance.  The intervention is designed to introduce all functional and hierarchical levels of any organisation to the principles and values of good governance, risk and compliance.  It is also a refresher to those already familiar with these topics. Company Directors, Executive and Senior Management, Governance Officers, Compliance & Ethics Officers, Risk Management Professionals, Business leaders, Company Secretaries & Trustees.

GRC - Zero error for failure!

When it comes to governance, risk and compliance, find out why business leaders and fighter-jet pilots have so much in common. You may be in for a once-in-a-lifetime treat!

Complete Continuity Training Solutions (February to November '10)

The speciality field of Business Continuity Management (BCM) is a complex discipline that requires years of practice and experience before a practitioner can claim to be an expert. The last decade alone has seen a wealth of information on BCM become available and standards have been published globally to ensure the efficient design and rollout of Business Continuity solutions in enterprises in all industries.

Standards are critical in the BCM market as they provide for best practice implementations and serve as benchmarks, providing the criteria upon which measurement is based and the success of proposed plans judged. They are not, however, designed to provide the practical knowledge and sound understanding of best practices, including the business continuity life cycle required to successfully initiate, implement, maintain and measure an effective Business Continuity Management Programme. To ensure the appropriate mix of standards and experience, organisations that realise the importance of having a carefully designed Business Continuity strategy in place generally hire expert consultants to design and oversee the implementation of their plans. Due to the time constraints placed on these practitioners, consultants are temporary workers and are not always available to update and improve plans as the business changes due to internal or external factors.

To compensate for the lack of on-site experts, many organisations appoint unqualified people to run their BCM Programme simply because they have no other options. This results in financial experts, IT managers or even HR management personnel having to manage Business Continuity strategies with little or no training -- a situation that can have serious consequences for business in the event of a disruption if the plans are not properly developed, implemented and tested.  As the premier BCM service provider on the African continent, ContinuitySA has announced a market first to deliver effective Business Continuity training to non-experts.

Far from the traditional introductory courses that offer attendees little in the way of practical knowledge they can apply in their workplace, let alone the knowledge to assist people in understanding Business Continuity Management as it applies to their organisations, ContinuitySA has developed two customised training programmes tailored to the needs of business professionals tasked with managing continuity projects.

CGF has negotiated an additional 5% discount for all its constituents attending these training workshops.
